Please contact your surgeon’s office as soon as there is a change in your physical condition leading up to your surgical date. Changes in physical condition include nausea, vomiting, acute onset pain, cough, cold, fever, and signs or symptoms of infection including open scratches, cuts, sores, redness, soreness or swelling.
This is a precaution required by anesthesia. You must have an empty stomach during the administration of anesthesia due to serious and possibly fatal risks of respiratory complication. Please alert a clinical staff member and your anesthesiologist as soon as possible if you have mistakenly consumed anything including food or drink.
For your safety, we ask that your care partner stays at the center. Should there be an emergency, we need to be able to get a hold of your care partner immediately. Also, only the person that you have consented may resume your care upon discharge from our facility.
When exposed to electrical equipment in the OR, jewelry can cause skin irritations. There is also the possibility of swelling around your jewelry as well as a higher risk of infection. It is better to simply remove your jewelry prior to arriving at the surgical center.
Our nurses will provide clear instructions on which medications should be taken the day of the surgery. Be sure to take the medications that you are instructed to take with as little water as possible.
The duration of your surgery will vary. Factors contributing to the surgical duration include both the procedure and the patient. Please consult your surgeon for further details on the duration of your scheduled procedure. Note: your time spent at the center will differ from the surgical time.
Your doctor will meet with you prior to proceeding with your surgery to address any last-minute concerns or questions.

No. The anesthesia and pain medications you may receive during your surgery may impair your ability to drive for 24 hours. We insist that you have a care partner available to receive discharge instructions, drive you home and help you with your after care. You will not be permitted to use public transportation of any kind – taxi, public transit, Uber/Lyft, etc. – unless accompanied by your care partner.
No. We kindly ask that you have a responsible adult (care partner) available to you for the first 24 hours after discharge. This person is to supervise and assist in any after care instructions. We will call you to follow up, the next business day after your procedure. If you experience any complications or adverse side effects, call your doctor immediately or call 911.
